Teen Speaking Skills Graduates to Participate in Del Mar Solana Beach Optimist Club’s Speech Contest

Several Teen Speaking Skills graduates will compete in a speech contest hosted by the Del Mar Solana Beach Optimist Club this Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. The speech contestants will showcase their public speaking skills as they compete to win cash prizes and the opportunity to advance to the next level of the speech competition. At the highest level of the competition, which is the district level, the contestants have a chance to win up to a $2,500 scholarship.

Each contestant will present a 4-5 minute speech on the topic “How my Optimism Helps me Overcome my Obstacles.” There are two competitions – one for males and one for females. Last year three Teen Speaking Skills graduates competed in the speech contest for males, and they won first, second, and third place!  This year several female Teen Speaking Skills graduates will compete as well.

Members of the public are welcome to attend this event. The speech contest will be held at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Solana Beach, which is located at 424 Via de la Valle in Solana Beach. Good luck Teen Speaking Skills graduates!
