Academy for Public Speaking Graduate Sanjana Wins First Place

Sanjana – 1st Place Winner at North South Foundation Public Speaking Bee 2018

Congratulations to Academy for Public Speaking graduates Sanjana Kumar and Ella Engelberg for winning 2nd and 3rd place in Speech Trek! Sanjana won $300 and Ella won $200.

This speech contest was sponsored by the Del Mar-Leucadia Branch of the American Association of University Women. Each contestant presented a 5-6 minute speech on the topic “Has social media helped or hindered the breaking down of barriers for women and girls?” Contestants presented their speeches live via a Zoom meeting on January 21, 2021.

Sanjana is a 9th grade student who participated in the Academy for Public Speaking level one course during the spring of 2016. She also took our advanced public speaking course during the summer of 2018. Sanjana has won numerous speech contests over the past several years.

Academy for Public Speaking graduate wins $1,500 scholarship in San Diego District Optimist Club Oratorical Contest.

Ella – $1,500 Scholarship Winner

Ella is a 9th grade student who participated in the Academy for Public Speaking level one course during the fall of 2016. She has also participated in public speaking coaching sessions with the Academy for Public Speaking.

Ella has won numerous cash prizes in speech contests over the past several years as well. Last year Ella won 2nd place and a $1,500 scholarship in the San Diego District Optimist Club Oratorical Contest. Ella also performs as a stand up comedian, and she was the special guest featured on the August 2018 episode of the Academy for Public Speaking podcast.
