The North South Foundation is a non-profit educational organization. They hold a variety of annual contests for students from 1st-12th grade who are part of Indian American families.

Public speaking bees are held for 6th-8th and 9th-12th grade students and there is a national level public speaking competition for 9th-12th grade students. Scholarships are awarded at the national level.

Each student receives the speech contest prompt 30 minutes prior to his or her presentation time. Contestants must rely on their own knowledge to plan a 2-3 minute speech on the assigned topic.

Money raised from the contest entry fees is used to provide scholarships to promote education for children in India who excel academically but need financial assistance to attend college.
