The Academy for Public Speaking enthusiastically empowers young children and teenagers to become confident, effective communicators by participating in our fun, interactive public speaking and debate courses and summer camps.
During our public speaking and debate courses and summer camps, children learn to organize and express their ideas clearly while developing confidence, public speaking skills and valuable leadership experience. These essential communication skills will support your son or daughter in doing well in school and achieving his or her goals in life.
During our free introduction to public speaking class, students learn why public speaking skills are important, how common the fear of public speaking is, and how they can quickly overcome the fear of public speaking.
Academy for Public Speaking Graduate
Students also have the opportunity to meet some Academy for Public Speaking graduates who will present speeches and share about their experiences with public speaking. The graduates will explain how they initially felt about public speaking, what they like about the Academy for Public Speaking, and how the skills they have acquired have helped them in school and life.
The Academy for Public Speaking offers various levels of courses for students ranging from 3rd-12th grade including level one, advanced, and masters public speaking courses, specialty courses such as debate and speech contests, after school enrichment courses, Saturday classes, and summer camp.
Enrichment Class Graduates – Spring 2018
During the level one public speaking course, your child will gain confidence while learning how to write and deliver speeches, give effective peer evaluations, and reply to impromptu questions. Speech projects may include introduction, storytelling, inspirational, and/or persuasive speeches.
During summer camp, students also participate in fun, interactive communication based games and activities to develop teamwork and leadership skills. We offer public speaking and debate camps for students who will enter 3rd-7th grade in the fall. Our public speaking camps will begin in July. For a list of dates and times, please use this link.
