Academy for Public Speaking students who are Indian American have an opportunity to participate in the first annual public speaking contest held by the North South Foundation in San Diego.
The North South Foundation is a non-profit education based organization whose mission is to encourage academic excellence among Indian American children while also raising money to provide scholarships for children in India who excel academically, but cannot afford to attend college.
The North South Foundation’s first public speaking contest in San Diego will be held on Saturday, April 5th at 3:00 p.m. at Thurgood Marshall Middle School in Scripps Ranch.
Indian American students in 6th-8th grade may compete in the regional junior public speaking contest. The senior level public speaking contests are for Indian American students in 9th-12th grades and include competitions at the regional and national levels.
At the national level, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners of the public speaking contest will receive scholarships of $1,000, $500, and $250 respectively.
