Academy for Public Speaking Graduate Solana Garcia

The North South Foundation is a non-profit educational organization that holds a variety of annual contests for students from 1st-12th grade who are part of Indian American families.

The North South Foundation encourages academic excellence among children who live in the United States while raising money to provide scholarships for students in India to attend college.

The math, geography, science, and essay contests were held today at Challenger Middle School in San Diego. The spelling, vocabulary, and public speaking contests will be held on April 30, 2016 at Challenger Middle School.

The spelling and vocabulary contests are for students 1st-3rd and 4th-8th grades. The public speaking contests are for students in 6th-8th and 9th-12th grades.

For public speaking, students are provided with an assigned topic 30 minutes before their turn to speak. Students may speak for up to 3 minutes.

There is also a national level public speaking competition for 9th-12th grade students. Scholarships are awarded at the national level.
