Five Academy for Public Speaking graduates competed in the Encinitas Lions Club Speech Contest last Saturday, March 22, 2014. The students showcased their public speaking skills as they presented a 5-10 minute speech on the topic “Community Service – What Does it Mean and Why Does it Matter?”
The Lions Club sponsors a Student Speakers Contest every year to promote public speaking among high school students. There are six levels to the contest. At the fourth level of the speech competition, the winner receives a $4,500 scholarship. At the fifth level the winner receives a $6,500 scholarship, and the winner of the sixth level of the speech contest receives a $10,000 scholarship!
Congratulations to Academy for Public Speaking graduate Hanrui Zhang for winning 1st place in the Encinitas Lions Club Student Speakers Contest! Hanrui will compete in the zone level of the speech contest on Saturday, March 8th at 2 p.m. The contest will be held at the Melba Bishop Community Center in Oceanside. The public is invited to attend.
