Several Academy for Public Speaking graduates showcased their public speaking skills at the Green Valentines Festival as they inspired and persuaded audience members to live eco-friendly lives. Dr. Seuss and his adorable little Lorax would be so proud of them. (Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!)
The fifth annual Green Valentines Festival was held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 in Laguna Beach. The festival was sponsored by Walking for Water to raise environmental awareness and funds to build wells in West Africa.
The Green Valentines Festival also celebrates youth who are making a world of difference. The Academy for Public Speaking graduates who participated in this event shared speeches about the importance of water conservation, ways we can live an eco-friendly lifestyle, and using alternative energy sources such as solar power.
Academy for Public Speaking President and Founder Kathleen Petrone said, “When I was a child I lacked the confidence to speak before even a small group of my peers. I feel so proud of our graduates for having the courage and confidence to embrace opportunities to speak and make a positive difference in our world.”
The mission of the Academy for Public Speaking is to create confident, effective communicators who realize their voice is a powerful tool they can use to make a positive difference in our world. Since 2010, the Academy for Public Speaking has empowered over 800 students in San Diego to be confident, effective communicators.
