Last weekend several Academy for Public Speaking graduates competed in the speech contests held at the San Diego County Fair, and they won hundreds of dollars in cash prizes! The theme was “Game On” and the students each presented a short speech related to the theme.
The San Diego County Fair Speech Contest included 3 age divisions; K-5th, 6th-8th, and 9th-12th. Academy for Public Speaking graduate Miles Blue won $150 and 3rd place in the K-5 division with his witty, humorous speech entitled “Identity Crisis”. This was Miles’ first speech contest ever! Congratulations, Miles!
In the middle school division, Academy for Public Speaking graduate Navarro Peck won $150 and 3rd place with his speech entitled “It’s All About Fun.” Navarro’s speech was extremely witty and funny as well. Navarro entertained the audience with good natured fun as he reminisced about how his perspective tends to differ from his father’s from time to time.
Academy for Public Speaking graduate Aisiri Murulidhar won $150 and 3rd place in the San Diego County Fair Oratorical Contest for high school students. Aisiri’s speech entitled “It’s All Fun and Games” was more serious in nature as she reminded the audience about the consequences of our actions.
Academy for Public Speaking graduate Austin Zhang won $225 and 2nd place in the high school speech contest. Austin shared his passion for Tabletop Gaming during his dramatic and highly entertaining presentation entitled “Tabletop Gamer.” Austin’s vivid, descriptive language transported us right into the scenes he was describing.
