Encinitas Lions Club Speech Contest 2013

Several Academy for Public Speaking graduates will compete this Saturday in the Encinitas Lions Club Student Speakers Contest.

Last year Academy for Public Speaking graduates Megha Sanjiv, Aisiri Murulidhar, Austin Zhang, and Hanrui Zhang competed in the 2013 Encinitas Lions Club Speech Contest. Austin won 1st place and competed in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th levels of the contest as well.

The Student Speakers Contest offers an excellent opportunity for high school students to earn scholarships and showcase their public speaking skills as they present a 5-10 minute speech on an assigned topic. This year’s topic is Community Service – What Does it Mean and Why Does it Matter?

The Student Speakers Contest includes six levels of competition. Winners of the District Level Contests receive a $4,500 scholarship. Winners of the Area Level Contests win a $6,500 scholarship. The winner of the Final Contest also receives an additional $10,000 scholarship for a total of $21,000 in scholarships!

The Encinitas Lions Club Speech Contest will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Encinitas Community and Senior Center. The center is located at 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive in Encinitas, CA 92024. You are welcome to join us!

Best of luck, Academy graduates!  See you on Saturday!
